Amanda has always been interested in fitness and intrigued with how the body moves. In 2010, Amanda decided to switch career paths from commercial pilot to university student. This is when she began her journey in health and fitness, which lead her to CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting.
In Amanda’s first year of Kinesiology at Dalhousie, she had her first opportunity coaching outdoor group fitness and stroller classes at Point Pleasant Park and Shubie Park. In 2012, after wanting to try CrossFit for sometime she finally decided to sign up for her first CrossFit Fundamentals session with her boyfriend, Andrew. She immediately fell in love with CrossFit; especially the olympic lifts. A year later in 2013, Amanda became a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer and began coaching. Since then, Amanda continues to seek educational opportunities to provide the highest quality coaching.
After graduating from Dalhousie in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a certificate in disability management, Amanda moved out of Halifax and bought a house in Enfield, where she grew up. At that time, Amanda saw a need in her home town for more fitness services. She took initiative and started her own company, Core to Extremity Fitness, running Outdoor Bootcamps, Strength + Conditioning Classes with an Olympic lifting focus and Personal Training.
In 2014, Amanda started specializing in Olympic Weightlifting in her own training which originally made her fall in love with CrossFit. Amanda competes in local Olympic weightlifting competitions and is working towards qualifying for Nationals. Amanda continues to return back to her roots of CrossFit regularly where she always feels welcome, has built lasting friendships and enjoys the challenges!
