The Nova Scotia Championships were held at Blended Athletics on Saturday, November 26th and Rocky Lake had a strong representation with 7 lifters competing throughout the day.
Emma Dean got the day off to a great start setting 2 new Junior Provincial Records in the Snatch (54kg) and Total (122kg) and taking home a gold medal. Joining her in the first session was Jane Nicholson, who took home a silver medal at her very first weightlifting meet.
Next up was Coach Shane Lynch, who managed to find just enough time to compete in between the girls' sessions. Shane made 5 of his 6 lifts, finishing with a 193 total.
In the afternoon session, Kirsten Angus had a prefect day going 6 for 6 and setting a Junior Provincial Records in the Snatch (55kg). Later in the session, Allison Dubé and Chelsea Weinkauf both hit 5 of their 6 lifts, Allison taking a silver medal and Chelsea taking Gold while setting Senior Provincial Records in the Snatch (75kg) and Total (161kg).
Finally the day ended with a bang with superheavyweight Quinn Everett setting a new Senior Provincial Record in the Snatch (133kg) and taking home a gold medal.
On top of the records and medals, Quinn and Chelsea also qualified for the 2017 Canadian Senior Weightlifting Championships and were the top male and female lifters of the competition.
Congrats to all the lifters and to Coaches Shane Lynch and Isaac Smith for the success of the entire team!
